Let’s Talk About the Process: Why the TEKS Process Standards Deserve a Seat at the Table

Let me just say it: We are missing something important in math instruction, and it is showing up across our math classrooms in the State of Texas when we study our standards, Texas Essentials of Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

I have been in professional learning communities (PLCs), lesson planning sessions, and learning walk debriefs where the student expectations (SEs) are posted, the anchor charts are up, and the teachers are teaching their hearts off, but still wonder if something is still missing.
